Design email templates
Write a reusable email your flows can send — formatting, personalization, buttons, images, and a safe test send.
Start a template
A template is a reusable email — write it once, send it from as many flows as you like. Open Add-ons → Email → Templates and create one from scratch, or begin from a starter: a Welcome sequence starter, Nurture touchpoint, Reminder, Receipt or confirmation, or a plain-text style. Starters give you real content and a sensible layout to remix instead of a blank page.
- 1Give the template a name and pick a category (Welcome, Nurture, Reminder, Transactional, or Plain text).
- 2Write the Subject line — and, optionally, the preheader, the preview line inboxes show next to the subject.
- 3Compose the body in the visual editor, then Save.
Write the body
The visual editor handles the writing without any HTML: bold, italic, and underline, headings, and bulleted or numbered lists. If you’d rather work in source, HTML and plain-text modes are a click away.
To make each email feel written for one person, insert personalization tokens from the variables menu — their name or username, any field you’ve saved on the contact, answers they gave a form, and more. Whatever the contact’s record holds drops in at send time.
Preview and test
Preview renders the email exactly as it will arrive — same footer, same formatting as a real send. When it looks right, select Send test to deliver the draft to your own inbox and see it in a real email client.
A test send is completely safe: it doesn’t touch your send allowance, your analytics, or any real contact, and its footer is marked as a test rather than carrying live unsubscribe links. Send yourself as many as you need before a flow ever goes out. Every save also keeps a version history, so you can restore an earlier draft into the editor and review it before committing.
